President's Report

Welcome everyone to the third Quarter issue of the ASIS San Diego Chapter Newsletter. The goal of this newsletter is to keep you informed on what the board has been up to this quarter.
Here are some of the highlights: In addition to our monthly board and chapter lunch meetings, we hosted a Women In Security Mixer, a behind the scenes look at the US/Mexico Border tour, and a hospitality suite at the Annual ASIS International Conference in Anaheim. ASIS International recognized our chapter with the Community Service Award. This award was in recognition of our donation to the Chula Vista Police Department for their body worn camera program.
The annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day luncheon was a huge success. Thank you to everyone involved in organizing this event! We couldn’t have done this without our sponsors: Qualcomm, Cox, Bosch, AXIS and Securitas!!
Hope to see you in November, by far the most important event taking place, is our annual Chapter Officer election. I have a slate of candidates running for office:
Chair……………..Christian Woodhead
Vice Chair……….Matt Klock
Secretary………..Lauren Winter
Treasurer………..Melanie Bamba
I would like to encourage any ASIS international member in good standing to participate on our board.
The biggest challenge we face on this board is finding folks that want to be involved as officers or Committee Chairs, and are able to participate consistently. The success of this chapter depends on the participation of members like you!
If you wish to be considered for the board but can't attend the October meeting, please reply to this email indicating what Board roles interest you; beyond the four elected positions outlined above we have many appointed roles.
We are not hosting a lunch meeting in December.
My term as Chair ends on December 31st and I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your commitment to the success of our chapter. I have enjoyed serving on the board for the last four years!
I hope you enjoy reading this issue!

We were very honored to receive an award for our community service while at the ASIS 2015 conference

Because of our Community Service award we were able to donate another $1000.00 to the Chula Vista Police Department during our October Luncheon.

One of the hottest topics in video surveillance is 4k or next generation ultra-high definition (UHD) camera technology. It is replacing 1080p as the highest-resolution video signal available. Since the technology is new and it is just beginning to be implemented there are a lot of questions surrounding its benefits, best applications and total cost. This panel discussion includes manufacturers, an integrator and an end user. Our experts will give attendees a better understand of what 4k is and what it can do.
Program information
- A demonstration of 4k technology
- How 4k technology can be used in security applications
- When and how to transition to 4k
- The viewpoint of a 4k end user
Our Panel:
Moderator: Dario Santana, President, Layer3 Security Services (LinkedIn)
Panel member: Jon Carstensen – District Manager, Bosch Security (LinkedIn)
Panel member: Mike McCann -- Solutions Engineer, Sony Security Systems Division

Chapter Officer Elections will also be taking place at this luncheon. Remember you must be an ASIS member to vote, be sure to attend and show your support.
