Michael Aspland
Assistant Police Chief Michael Aspland
is a member of the City of Monterey Police Department in California and has twenty‐five years of experience as a law enforcement professional. He spent fifteen years with the Santa Barbara Police Department and is currently serving with the City of Monterey. He is part of a multi‐discipline, multi‐jurisdiction team that is developing an interoperable data and radio system for all Monterey County public service agencies. He participates in the Northern California Joint Terrorism Task Force as a member of the Counter Terrorism Executive Board. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
Michael is an educator and lecturer presenting recently at the International Association of Fire Chief’s Fire‐Rescue International Conference in Chicago, Ill. and at the Government Technology West Conference in Sacramento, Cal. He is an adjunct instructor for Drexel University and serves on the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee at Colorado Technical University.
Michael holds a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, a Masters of Arts in Public Administration from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks and a Master of Arts in Security Studies – Homeland Defense and Security at the Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Homeland Defense and Security.
